Volunteer Opportunities

Announcer (1)

Prior to race gives pre-race instructions over P.A. system. During race announce progress of race, and at finish, call out names of the finishers, interview runners. Need good loud speaking voice & outgoing personality. Needs to be “on the air” 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.


Announcer assistants (2)

Assist announcer in calling out names of runners as they finish. Must have cell phone. 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.


Balloon Blowers w/helium tank (6)

Form an assembly line to inflate balloons with a helium tank and tie on ribbons. 6:30 a.m. till finished.


Cone truck driver (1)

Need one driver with pickup truck or some open-ended vehicle for the cones. Before the race puts out cones on the course. During the race follow last participant and pick up cones. 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.


Cone assistants (2)

Assist cone truck driver 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.


Course chief (1)

During the race take positions on the course to direct the runners and supplement the police officer. 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Must be adult.


Course Assistants (10)

Assist course chief. 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Must be adults.


Course water stop chief (1)

Give out water near the mid-way point on the course. 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.


Course water-stop assistants (4)

Assist course water stop chairperson. 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.


Entertainment Chief (1)

Provide entertainment games for children in a children’s area.


Entertainment Assistants(8)

Assist entertainment chief by helping with set-up, guiding children and maintaining order. 6:30 or 7:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.


Exhibitor Coordinator (1)

Greet and direct exhibitors 6:30 a.m. until all are settled.


Data entry clerks (2)

Need to know how to type on a computer. 7:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.


Finish line chief (1)

Stay at finish line for backup timing, collect chips, and give out prizes to one-mile finishers. 8:45 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.


Finish line assistants (7)

Assist finish line chief 8:45 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. (Must be able to remove or help remove chip from runners’ shoes).


Floaters (3)

Agree to fill in if someone cannot come at the last minute. 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.


Grunt crew chief (1)

Set up – banners, scaffolding, tables, etc. Help tear down after race. 6:00 a.m. until finished.

Parking Captain

Parking Crew (10)

Assist Parking Captain; need 10 authoritative adults to help set cones and regulate traffic. 6:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.


Photographer (1)

Take still photos of the race on the back of the press truck and other shots as needed, including the awards presentation. Need digital camera. 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.


Press truck driver (1)

Before the race: deliver the supplies to the water stop; during the race drive the lead vehicle with the camera people on board. After the race: pick up stuff from water stop. Need pickup truck. 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.


Refreshment chief (1)

Set up food and water at the finish. Take care of leftovers. 7:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.


Refreshment chief assistants (5)

7:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.


Registration Chief (1)

Register runners and walkers not previously registered. After the race sell left over shirts. 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.


Registration Assistants (13)

Assist registration chief. Need a few to stay till 10:30 to assist with after the race duties. 7:30 to 10:30 a.m.


Sales table (1)

Take payments for items presented for sale. 7:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.


Split timer chief (1)

During the race, will call splits along with assistants. After the race, will retrieve the signs on the course with the help of assistants. 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Trail runner (1)

Walks with last person in 5K to let everyone know that is the last participant. Need patience and the ability to walk 3.1 miles. 9:15 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.


Treasurer (1)

Collect all registration forms and payments

Videographer (1)

Videotape the race from the back of the press truck. Need a video camera. 8:45 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.


Volunteer check-in chief (1)

Give t-shirts to the volunteers and directs them where to go. 6:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.


Volunteer check-in assistants (3)

Assist Chief volunteer check-in person. Register runners and walkers not previously registered. After the race sell left over shirts. 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
